Greigite
Description

Occurs in microbial biofilms, as disseminated crystallites, and as framboids. Opaque where visible by light microscopy. In reduced sediments, greigite is often considered a metastable phase transitional between highly reactive iron monosulfide (mackinawite) and pyrite. Common in reduced lacustrine sediments.
